After a year of arguing the case for it, and 6 months of planning and building it, the new Man Booker Prize website is up and running. Pulling in readers from all over the world, the site is helping to cement the reputation of the Man Booker Prize, and offer new ways to engage with the world's finest authors.
Man Booker 2007 winner
The 2007 Man Booker shortlist included Nicola Barker, Anne Enright, Mohsin Hamid, Lloyd Jones, Indra Sinha and six times nominated, Ian McEwan. Top tip for this year's prize is Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones (John Murray) was, ahem, pipped to the post by Anne Enright's bleak and beautiful The Gathering. The winner was announced on 16 October.
Content is king
Following our advice and content strategy, this fully accessible website is backed by a bespoke content management system and kept alive by a dedicated editor. Unique and engaging content includes insightful author interviews, a blog by chair of the judges Howard Davies, and will, in the next phase, include rich media such as audio and video.
User experience is a sound investment
Using the principles of user experience design, the site is conceived and built around the needs of readers. Good usability is increasingly regarded as the priority investment in online communications. By focusing on usability and the user experience, the site creates a rewarding visit every time, increasing traffic and brand engagement.
Web Standards champion
The site has been future proofed and made accessible by being developed to Web Standards. We are firm believers in the principles of the Web Standards Project and think the new site demonstrates that accessible and usable design is where the future's at.
