Edvard Munch Exhibition Design
A private view of Norway’s most famous artist
Norwegian expressionism
Munch’s intense, evocative treatment of anguish greatly influenced the development of German expressionism in the early 20th century.
Visual autobiography
Munch’s self-portraits explored his experience of life and his commitment to art. Love, desire, the creative journey, ageing and death are the central themes of these works. He produced 70 self-portraits in oil, over 100 in watercolour, as well as numerous drawings and sketches of which very few were exhibited during his lifetime.
Striking pose
In this our first project with the Royal Academy, we were asked to design the stamp, or marque, to promote this major retrospective. We incorporated this into the exhibition poster and rolled it out across all promotional media.
