BFI - 75th Anniversary Branding
A special identity for a very special birthday in the British film industry.
Sound and vision
The BFI came into being on the 30 September 1933. Its role included providing information on all aspects of film, encouraging public appreciation of film, carrying out research, maintaining a national repository of films and undertaking the certification of films for the government.
Fast forward
Not much has changed in 75 years (including the economic conditions), the BFI is still responsible for promoting the understanding and appreciation of Britain's rich film and television heritage and culture.
Time to celebrate
The BFI saw this anniversary as a chance to enhance people's experience of film and to engage them in debate about film now and in the future. It was a birthday to celebrate.
Happy returns
We were asked to create an identity for the 75th celebrations and to demonstrate how it would work across different media. BFI 75 appeared in all communications to do with the birthday. That included in print, on exhibitions and online. It also put in an appearance at the birthday party along with Juliette Binoche, Alan Parker and David Caines.
